## Synopsis

The Crystal Cuckoo (2025) is a Spanish mystery thriller miniseries created by Javier Castillo, Jesús Mesas Silva and Javier Andrés Roig for Netflix. Across six episodes of roughly 47 minutes each, a young doctor, played by Catalina Sopelana as Clara Merlo, travels to a remote mountain town hoping to learn about the stranger whose heart she received. Her search meets a community that has absorbed decades of mysterious tragedies and closes ranks around its secrets. Marta Peña (Itziar Ituño) and Miguel Ferrer (Álex García) are among the local figures whose loyalties and memories shift as Clara presses for answers. Each episode peels back another layer of the past while raising new doubts about who can be trusted. The story is a single continuing mystery rather than a case of the week, so every revelation builds on the last. The tone is brooding and melancholic, with a cold, claustrophobic atmosphere in which grief and guilt hang over the streets. Its contemporary setting in a Spanish mountain town gives the drama a quiet, isolated dread. Viewers who enjoy the slow burn small town dread of Twin Peaks or the layered European puzzle of Dark will find a similar pull here.
