## Synopsis

The Heritage (Scheda) (2025-present) is a Polish crime mystery drama series broadcast on HBO Max, with a single season of seven 40-minute episodes so far. Set in the seaside town of Hel, the story follows the Mroz family after the death of Jan Johnny Mroz, a prominent local naval captain, played by Jacek Koman. Magdalena Poplawska plays Hanka Mroz, whose unease grows as the sudden death threatens to expose the web of lies that ties her relatives together, while Grzegorz Damiecki and Bartosz Gelner portray his sons Pawel and Maciej, each carrying private resentments. Wojciech Zielinski and Bartlomiej Kotschedoff add outside pressure as associates with their own stakes in the family's reputation. Each episode peels back another layer of concealment, driven by a question of who knew what and when. The tone is cold, tense and quietly melancholic, with the damp coastal weather and the weight of a naval legacy pressing on every scene. Its family-centred mystery builds through conversation and withheld information rather than spectacle. Viewers who enjoy the buried secrets of Ozark, the inheritance rivalries of Succession, or the small-town unease of Twin Peaks will find resonance here, in a grounded, adult register suited to attentive viewing.
