## Synopsis

The Hot Spot (2025) is a Japanese science fiction comedy series created by Bakarhythm for Nippon TV. Kiyomi Endo, played by Mikako Ichikawa, is a single mother working at a business hotel near Mount Fuji whose quiet routine is knocked sideways after an encounter with an alien. Her coworkers, including Kosuke Takahashi (Akihiro Kakuta) and Hazuki Nakamura (Anne Suzuki), are drawn into the strange situation alongside her, and the ensemble cast fills out the hotel's daily life with small workplace frictions and family obligations. Across ten episodes of roughly forty-five minutes each, the engine is domestic: Kiyomi must keep her job, look after her child, and keep her secret while the odd visitor complicates every shift. The series is a single self-contained season, with an everyday comedic rhythm rather than a sprawling mythology. Its tone is warm, deadpan and gently absurd, with a human-scale focus on ordinary people reacting to the extraordinary. Viewers who enjoy the grounded whimsy of Resident Alien or the domestic comedy of Mork and Mindy will find a similar pleasure in its mix of heart and playful oddness.
