## Synopsis

Crooked House (2008) is a British supernatural drama miniseries created by Mark Gatiss for BBC Four. Gatiss also appears on screen as the enigmatic figure known only as The Curator, while Lee Ingleby plays Ben Morris, the thread that carries viewers through the haunting. Across three episodes, the story follows the cursed residence of Geap Manor, weaving together three separate ghost stories set in Georgian times, the 1920s and the present day. Each tale unfolds in its own era, with its own household, its own dread, and its own mounting sense that the house is tied to a long chain of misfortune. The engine of the show is a slow accumulation of unsettling clues that connect the stories, as the past keeps pressing into the present. Its tone is atmospheric and eerie, with a quiet, mannered British chill that favors creeping unease over gore. Fans of A Ghost Story for Christmas and The Woman in Black will find resonance in its Gothic mood and period atmosphere. Presented as a single compact season of three episodes, it works as a self-contained seasonal chiller that rewards close attention to period detail and the house's shifting secrets.
