## Synopsis

Hunting Season is a slow-burning Chinese crime thriller that follows a weary investigator drawn back into a decades-old missing persons case when fresh remains surface in a provincial city. As the inquiry unfolds, buried family secrets, old grudges and compromised local authorities pull him into an increasingly personal search for the truth. The tone is somber, tense and melancholic, with long stretches of quiet dread punctuated by sharp bursts of violence. The serialized narrative layers new suspects and timelines over the last, rewarding patient viewers who track the clues across episodes. Its muted palette, rain-soaked streets and restrained performances give the series a bleak, grounded atmosphere. Rather than offering easy resolution, it dwells on guilt, memory and the cost of pursuing justice in a community that prefers silence. Viewers drawn to layered procedural mysteries and morally gray protagonists will find a deliberate, atmospheric story that trades spectacle for sustained unease and emotional weight.
