## Synopsis

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED (2002-2005) is a Japanese animated real robot mecha series created by Sunrise and aired on MBS and TBS. Set in Cosmic Era 71, it follows Coordinator teenager Kira Yamato (Soichiro Hoshi) who is thrust into piloting a mobile suit after a neutral space colony is attacked by ZAFT, the military force of the PLANT colonies. Around him, Athrun Zala (Akira Ishida) and Lacus Clyne (Rie Tanaka) are principal figures whose loyalties pull against one another as the war between enhanced Coordinators and ordinary Naturals escalates. Across two seasons and one hundred episodes, each installment mixes large scale battles with political maneuvering, shuttle hops between colonies and Earth, and the strain of young people forced into adult roles. The tone is earnest and melancholic, with romance and friendship tangled through the fighting and a steady undercurrent of prejudice and grief. Fans of Mobile Suit Gundam, Code Geass and Macross Frontier will find resonance in its blend of mecha spectacle and wartime drama.
