## Synopsis

Patience (2025-present) is a British television crime drama created by Matt Baker for Channel 4. Ella Maisy Purvis plays Patience Evans, a Criminal Records Office clerk in York whose autism gives her an unusual gift for puzzles and connecting clues that others miss. Laura Fraser plays Detective Inspector Bea Metcalf, the senior officer who notices that talent and draws her into real police work. Around them, Nathan Welsh, Mark Benton and Ali Ariaie fill out the detective team, while Liza Sadovy appears as a forensic figure. The engine of the show is a steady run of homicide investigations in which Patience's quiet pattern-spotting pushes stalled cases forward, while the team wrestles with institutional scepticism and the limits of standard procedure. The show runs across two seasons and fourteen episodes of a 47-minute runtime, with each episode built around a new case and the mentoring relationship deepening over time. Set in present-day York, it has a grounded, humane atmosphere: thoughtful, sincere and occasionally unsettling when the crimes turn dark. Viewers who enjoy the outsider sleuthing of Monk, the British detective energy of Sherlock, or the warm procedural heart of Bones will find much to like here.
