## Synopsis

The Late Offices (Gassal) (2024-present) is a Turkish dark comedy series created by Sümeyye Karaarslan and produced by ZERA Medya for tabii. Ahmet Kural plays Baki, an introverted mortician in his thirties who has grown comfortable with isolation until a close encounter with death leaves him wondering who would wash his body after he dies. That question pushes him out into the world in search of connection and perhaps a spouse, but each attempt to socialise collapses into awkward and bizarre situations. Hande Soral plays Nihan, and Ferhan Vural, Demir Karahan and Mertcan Ertürk round out a supporting cast of neighbours and community figures. The engine is simple: a man who handles corpses for a living tries to be an ordinary suitor, and every encounter drags the subject of mortality back into view. The series runs as a continuing story across three seasons of ten half-hour episodes, with a mood that is deadpan and morbid while staying warm toward its lonely protagonist. Its contemporary Turkish setting gives the humour a local texture of family expectation and small-town gossip. Fans of Six Feet Under and the quiet awkwardness of Detectorists will find resonance here.
