## Synopsis

The Lady's Companion (2025) is a Spanish period romcom created by Gema R. Neira and María José Rustarazo and produced by Bambú Producciones for Netflix. Nadia de Santiago plays Elena, a chaperone hired to find husbands for three wealthy sisters, and she is drawn into the tangled romantic lives of the household. Álvaro Mel plays Santiago, Isa Montalbán plays Cristina, Zoe Bonafonte plays Sara and Iratxe Emparan plays Carlota, each one a sister or suitor whose wishes collide with the matchmaking plans. The engine of the show is simple: every courtship Elena arranges spins into a new scandal, rival suitor or misread letter, and each episode is built from a fresh knot of social pressure and private desire. Set in late nineteenth century Spain, the eight-episode series moves through drawing rooms, gardens and salons where reputations are fragile and gossip travels fast. Its tone is lighthearted and cynical at once, with farcical timing, whimsical twists of fate and a matter of fact wit that keeps the romance playful. Viewers who enjoy Bridgerton, Pride and Prejudice and Downton Abbey will find a similar appetite for marriage plot intrigue and period banter. The series is a limited run that ended after one season on Netflix.
