Audiences rate Charmed as a positive, reliably entertaining supernatural drama whose sisterly bond and fun witch-of-the-week formula carry it across eight seasons, with the final season weakest.

## Synopsis

Charmed (1998-2006) is a United States supernatural fantasy drama with comedic touches created by Constance M. Burge for The WB. Sisters Prue Halliwell (Shannen Doherty), Piper Halliwell (Holly Marie Combs) and Phoebe Halliwell (Alyssa Milano) reunite in their family's San Francisco Victorian manor and discover they are the prophesied Charmed Ones, the most powerful good witches of all time. Their engine is simple and relentless: protect innocent lives from demons, warlocks and other evil beings while holding down jobs, dating, and the messy business of being sisters. Across eight seasons the show runs as a serialized mythology threaded through case-of-the-week monster battles, with powers that grow and shift as the family expands. Paige Matthews (Rose McGowan) and Leo Wyatt (Brian Krause) join the household as the story widens. The tone is warm, playful and breezy, with moments of genuine emotional weight around loyalty and loss, and a late nineties WB sensibility. Set in modern day San Francisco, it is a comforting, witty supernatural family series. Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural and Sabrina the Teenage Witch will find resonance in its blend of sibling loyalty, humor and demon hunting.
