## Synopsis

Wonderfalls (2004) is a Canadian-American quirky supernatural comedy series created by Todd Holland, Bryan Fuller and Tim Minear for FOX. Caroline Dhavernas stars as Jaye Tyler, a Brown philosophy graduate working a dead-end sales clerk job at a Niagara Falls gift shop, where she reluctantly becomes the messenger for a wax lion, a brass monkey, a stuffed bear and a mounted fish. Their oblique instructions push her to help strangers in need, often with odd results that only make sense later. Her family, including Tyrn Leitso as Eric Gotts and Tracie Thoms as Mahandra McGinty, supplies the offbeat workplace and personal chemistry around her. The engine of the show is Jaye's resistance against a destiny she never asked for, balanced against her dry, sardonic instincts. Each episode is a self-contained case of the week, and the single season of thirteen episodes forms a brief, unfinished run. The tone is witty and deadpan, warm underneath, with a neo-noir edge in its Niagara Falls atmosphere. Fans of Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me and Veronica Mars will find resonance in its whimsical quirk and cult-favorite spirit.
