## Synopsis

Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke (2025) is a British documentary miniseries for Disney+ that traces the arrest of popular American vlogger Ruby Franke in August 2023 for child abuse. Across three roughly 50-minute episodes, the series builds its account from archive footage of the Franke family's YouTube channel, which for years presented a cheerful, wholesome household to nearly three million subscribers, alongside first-person testimony from family members appearing as themselves, including Ruby Franke, Chad Franke, Shari Franke, Kevin Franke and Paige Hannah. The engine of the story is the gap between the polished image and what happened behind the camera, as cracks widen and the family turns to counselor Jodi Hildebrandt for guidance, only to find themselves trapped in a far darker situation. The structure is a tightly paced true crime limited series rather than a case-of-the-week format, with each episode moving the story forward. Its tone is sober, unsettling and deeply sad, with a steady, investigative atmosphere that treats its subjects with weight. Fans of The Jinx, The Vow and documentaries about online personalities and their downfalls will find resonance here. The show is set in the contemporary American Mormon community and the world of youtube family vlogging.
