## Synopsis

Sports Night (1998-2000) is an American network television workplace dramedy created by Aaron Sorkin for ABC. Set behind the scenes of a fictional cable sports news program, the show follows producer Casey McCall (Peter Krause) and anchor Dan Rydell (Josh Charles) as they keep a nightly broadcast on air while wrestling with ethical compromises, ego clashes, and private lives that spill into the control room. Felicity Huffman plays producer Dana Whitaker, with Joshua Malina, Sabrina Lloyd, and Robert Guillaume rounding out the ensemble. The engine of each episode is the deadline itself: scripts get rewritten minutes before air, anchors stumble on live segments, and the staff must absorb the consequences of every choice. Across two seasons and 45 half-hour episodes, the show moves through one continuing workplace story rather than case-of-the-week plots. Its signature is rapid, overlapping walk-and-talk dialogue that shifts quickly between jokes and heartfelt confessions. The tone is warm, witty, and wistful, with an undercurrent of idealism about television that never quite stops being melancholy. Fans of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, The Newsroom, and 30 Rock will find resonance in its sharp, behind-the-scenes energy.
