## Synopsis

Flamingo Road (1981-1982) is an American prime time soap opera created by Rita Lakin and Robert Wilder for NBC. Adapted from the 1949 film and Robert Wilder's novel, it follows the residents of Truro, a fictional Florida town, where Constance Weldon (Morgan Fairchild) schemes for power while Sam Curtis (John Beck) and Lane Ballou Curtis (Cristina Raines) navigate their own tangled marriage. Skipper Weldon (Woody Brown) and Titus Semple (Howard Duff) add rivalry and old grudges, while Field Carlyle (Mark Harmon) and Lute-Mae Sanders (Stella Stevens) complicate the romantic and political maneuvering. Each episode is built from secrets, betrayals, and courtroom or boardroom confrontations that keep the stakes high across two seasons and 37 episodes. The tone is melodramatic, glossy, and deliciously scandalous, with a cozy sense of town gossip. Created to challenge CBS hits, it sits in the vein of Dallas, Knots Landing and Peyton Place, and fans of sudsy nighttime serials will find its wicked ensemble irresistible.
