## Synopsis

Wild China (2008) is a British nature documentary miniseries created by Gavin Maxwell for BBC Two, produced with the BBC Studios Natural History Unit and CTV-Media Studio Corporation. Narrated by Bernard Hill in English and by a Chinese-language narrator, the six hour-long episodes follow the dazzling array of mysterious and wonderful creatures that inhabit China's most beautiful landscapes. Rather than a single protagonist, the series is built around encounters: a camera crew patiently tracks rare animals across mountains, forests, wetlands and river valleys, and each episode is made of long waits, rare sightings and close observation of animal behavior in its habitat. The shape is a single self-contained season of six episodes, a sweeping survey rather than a continuing story. Its tone is awed, warm and unhurried, with the grandeur of the landscapes foregrounded alongside the quiet drama of survival. Viewers who enjoy Planet Earth, Life and Planet Earth II will find the same polished natural history craft and sense of wonder here, with a focus on the wildlife and terrain of a single vast country.
