## Synopsis

Private Tutor to the Duke's Daughter is a Japanese anime series adapted from a light novel and produced by Studio Blanc with GREE Entertainment, King Records and KADOKAWA. After failing the court sorcerer exam, a young man named Allen finds himself with no way home and takes a job as private tutor to the duke's daughter Tina Howard. Her central problem is that she cannot use magic at all, and Allen's unconventional lessons become a search for the cause behind her blocked powers. The twelve-episode run is a single continuing story rather than a case-of-the-week format, moving at an easygoing pace through one-on-one sessions and the household around the duke's family. Its register is gentle and warm, with a quiet romantic undercurrent and an emphasis on patience, encouragement and a student finding her footing. The fantasy world is an invented realm of court sorcery and academies, rendered in bright, soft anime style. Fans of Ascendance of a Bookworm and The Irregular at Magic High School will find similar pleasures in a magic-centred story about an outsider lifting a gifted but struggling young character.
