## Synopsis

Rød snø (1985) is a Norwegian-Swedish co-produced period mystery miniseries created for SVT2 and NRK, a single six-episode season of roughly forty-two minutes each. Kjersti Holmen plays Anne Eriksen, a young Norwegian woman living in Gothenburg who travels to visit friends in Dalsland and finds herself drawn into the affairs of Linds Pensionat in Nossemark. Tomas von Brömssen plays Evert Lind, the son of the guesthouse's proprietor Ruth Lind, and Sven Nordin plays Hans Solberg, one of the guests whose presence unsettles the household. Torsten Lilliecrona plays Captain Andersson, adding an official edge to the suspicion that gathers around the house. The engine of the story is Anne's search for the truth among guests who each have something to hide, as the calm of the remote guesthouse is steadily eroded by its closeness to occupied Norway. Set in November 1942 on the Swedish side of the border, the series builds a slow, watchful tension through conversation, glances and small betrayals rather than action. Its mood is wistful and uneasy, a chamber piece of wartime unease for viewers who enjoy quiet, character-driven mysteries. Fans of The Killing, The Bridge and Downton Abbey will find resonance in its patient atmosphere and its tangle of secrets.
