## Synopsis

Sai de Baixo (1996-2013) is a Brazilian sitcom created by Luis Gustavo and Daniel Filho for TV Globo. It follows a dysfunctional family in an apartment building, centered on the blustering Vavá (Luis Gustavo) and his household, along with their maid Edileuza (Cláudia Jimenez) and the doorman Ribamar (Tom Cavalcante). Cassandra (Aracy Balabanian) and the scheming Caco Antibes (Miguel Falabella) keep pushing the household toward new schemes, while the building's everyday comings and goings supply the material. Each episode is a self-contained slice of domestic chaos, built on escalating misunderstandings, broad slapstick and sharp-tongued arguments that play out across a stable ensemble. Running across eight seasons and 245 episodes, it has the warmth and brashness of a long-running family sitcom, with an absurdist streak and a cheerful eye on class differences between the wealthy household and the staff who serve it. Fans of Everybody Loves Raymond and Married... with Children will find familiar comic rhythms, while the show's sense of working-class humour and fierce family loyalty resonates with the broader tradition of Brazilian comedy.
