## Synopsis

Other People's Money (2025) is a German-Danish national-television drama miniseries created by Jan Schomburg for ZDF and DR1. Across eight episodes of roughly 45 minutes, it dramatizes the cum-ex scandal, a tax heist that drained some 146 billion euros from several European treasuries. Justus von Dohnányi plays Dr. Bernd Hausner, and Karen-Lise Mynster plays Inger Brøgger, two investigators from Germany and Denmark whose persistent pursuit of the scheme drives the story. Nils Strunk, David Dencik and Lars Brygmann appear among the principal players, moving through banks, tax offices, courtrooms and cross-border negotiations where paperwork and reluctant officials are the main obstacles. Each episode advances one continuing investigation, with the scheme slowly unpicked layer by layer. The tone is sober and tense, with a bureaucratic dread that turns dry procedure into suspense. Its atmosphere is cool and methodical, recalling the institutional anatomy of The Wire and the financial-world tension of Industry. Fans of The Big Short and prestige European crime dramas will find resonance in its grounded, true-events approach to high-stakes financial wrongdoing.
