## Synopsis

The Deal (2025) is a Swiss French-language political thriller miniseries created by Jean-Stéphane Bron and Alice Winocour, produced for RTS Un. Set in April 2015 Geneva, the six-episode limited series follows Swiss diplomat Alexandra Weiss, played by Veerle Baetens, who heads the Swiss diplomatic mission and works to keep a fragile balance between American and Iranian negotiators meeting in a luxury hotel. Her task grows dangerous when Payam Sanjabi, an Iranian engineer whose life is under threat and who is played by Arash Marandi, arrives unexpectedly, reviving a past romance with her. Juliet Stevenson appears as Cindy Cohen, adding further pressure to the talks. The engine of the story is the collision between personal loyalty and the cold arithmetic of statecraft, with each episode built around closed-door meetings, hushed corridor encounters, and quiet bargaining over a suspected secret weapons program. The tone is tense, controlled and atmospheric, a slow-burning chamber piece in the vein of Tehran and Homeland, where suspicion hangs over every handshake. Fans of nuclear diplomacy dramas will find the restrained, character-driven intrigue rewarding.
