## Synopsis

What It Feels Like for a Girl (2025) is a British coming of age miniseries created by Paris Lees for BBC Three. Adapted from Paris Lees's raw, riotous memoir, it follows Byron (Ellis Howard), a restless young trans woman in Nottingham, as she flirts with discovery and destruction across a Y2K landscape of nightclubs, friendships and risky romance. Byron's world is filled with friends and rivals including Max (Calam Lynch), Mommar Joe (Hannah Walters), Lisa (Laura Haddock) and Steve (Michael Socha), each pulling her toward different versions of adulthood. The engine of the series is the push and pull between the longing for love and belonging and the pull of a dangerous underground economy that promises independence but threatens to swallow her whole. Told in eight hour long episodes of brisk, emotionally raw scenes, the miniseries moves between euphoric party nights and quieter moments of vulnerability. Its tone is candid, wry and defiantly alive, with a sharp sense of humor sitting beside real harm. Fans of Skins, It's a Sin and Sex Education will find resonance in its frank portrayal of queer youth, class, and the cost of reinvention.
