## Synopsis

Code of Silence is a British crime drama set in Kent, England, centred on Alison Brooks, a deaf catering worker struggling to make ends meet. When a police detective approaches her to lip-read the conversations of criminals, she is drawn into covert surveillance work that places her between the investigators and the people she is watching. Each episode builds tension from secret exchanges, overheard plans and the constant risk of being discovered. The engine of the story is practical and personal: she needs the money, the police need the words, and every glance across a crowded room carries danger. The tone is tense and sincere, with an emphasis on a deaf woman's perspective and the communication barriers that shape her everyday world. Its grounded texture of ordinary southeast English life gives the crime plot emotional weight, as its lead must balance self-reliance, loyalty and the moral cost of her new role. Viewers drawn to character-driven British procedurals and stories about hidden skills will find its focus on listening, looking and being heard especially resonant.
