## Synopsis

Antiques Roadshow (1979-present) is a British factual television series broadcast on BBC One. Presenters including Fiona Bruce, Hugh Scully and the late Arthur Negus travel to towns and venues across the United Kingdom, where members of the public bring in furniture, ceramics, paintings, silver and curiosities for expert valuation. The engine is simple and satisfying: a hopeful owner hands over a dusty item, a specialist examines its maker and provenance, and the price reveal lands with delight or surprise. Each episode is built from a sequence of these short encounters, so the show works as a stream of self-contained vignettes rather than a continuing plot. Its run spans many decades and dozens of seasons, giving it the feel of a national institution. The mood is warm, curious and nostalgic, with a comforting pace and an affection for ordinary lives and the histories folded into everyday things. Fans of Flog It!, Pawn Stars and Escape to the Country will find a similar blend of collectibles, local character and gentle expertise.
