## Synopsis

Code Blue (2008-2017) is a Japanese medical drama series broadcast on Fuji TV, following four young physicians assigned to Japan's Doctor Helicopter system, a rapid-response unit that flies a medical team to patients to deliver emergency care in the field. The protagonist is doctor Aizawa Kousaku, played by Tomohisa Yamashita, and the principal ensemble includes Yui Aragaki as Shiraishi Megumi, Erika Toda as Hiyama Mihoko, and Manami Higa as Saejima Haruka. The engine of the show is simple and urgent: each episode drops the team into a fresh trauma, where crews must stabilize a patient under time pressure with limited equipment, then race back to the helicopter. Between rescues the young doctors wrestle with career ambitions, rivalries, and the personal costs of commitment. The series runs three seasons and thirty-two episodes, moving as one continuing story that follows the characters as they mature. Its tone is intense and earnest, with moments of grief and quiet hope. Set in contemporary Japan, it is a grounded, procedural-feeling drama with a strong sense of teamwork. Fans of ER, Grey's Anatomy and Hero will find resonance in its blend of emergency medicine and character growth.
