## Synopsis

Anne Frank: The Whole Story (2001) is a two-part American television miniseries broadcast on ABC, a historical biography drama adapted from the diary of a young Jewish girl. Ben Kingsley plays Otto Frank, the father who holds his family together, while Hannah Taylor-Gordon plays Anne Frank, the teenager whose private writing gives the story its voice. Tatjana Blacher as Edith Frank, Jessica Manley as Margot Frank, and Lili Taylor as Miep Gies, the helper who brings food and news into the hidden rooms, round out the principal cast. The engine of the story is the slow strain of survival: a family that must keep silent, share cramped quarters, and wait for news while the outside world tightens around them. The miniseries covers the full arc in two ninety-minute episodes, moving from the fearful years before the war through the German invasion of the Netherlands, the long hiding in Amsterdam, and the deportation to the camps, ending with the return of Otto. Set in 1939 to 1945 across occupied Netherlands, it is a restrained, mournful, and deeply humane drama, in the vein of Schindler's List and The Diary of Anne Frank for viewers seeking a sober, intimate account of wartime endurance.
