## Synopsis

Sherlock Hound (1984-1985) is a Japanese animated detective series created for Japanese broadcast, a single-season run of 26 episodes that adapts the Sherlock Holmes tradition into a family-friendly anime. Set in a steampunk London populated entirely by anthropomorphic animals, the title hound Sherlock Hound (voiced by Taichiro Hirokawa) and his loyal companion Doctor Watson (voiced by Kosei Tomita) take on mysteries that most often turn out to be the handiwork of the proud, bumbling genius Professor Moriarty (voiced by Chikao Ohtsuka). Each episode is a self-contained case of the week, built around clever deduction, chase sequences through foggy streets, and the recurring cat-and-mouse rivalry between detective and nemesis. Supporting characters including Mrs. Hudson (voiced by Yoko Asagami) and Inspector Lestrade (voiced by Shozo Iizuka) keep the investigations grounded in a warm, familiar world. The tone is gentle, whimsical and playful, with a bright cheerfulness that suits young viewers while still honoring the logic-driven spirit of classic detective fiction. Fans of Miss Marple, Wind in the Willows and Castle in the Sky will find resonance in its cozy charm and inventive period-flavored world.
