## Synopsis

Michiko & Hatchin (2008-2009) is a Japanese anime series produced by Manglobe and aired on Fuji TV, a 22-episode single season from the studio behind Cowboy Bebop. Nine-year-old Hana, called Hatchin, flees an abusive family with Michiko Malandro (Yoko Maki), a sexy fugitive who has just broken out of the Diamandra Penitentiary and claims to be her mother. Together they ride Michiko's motorcycle through the streets and backlands of Brazil, searching for Hana's long lost father while learning to live together. Their engine is simple and urgent: every stop brings a new threat, from the police to the bounty-hunting Atsuko Jackson (Maki Sakai), and every episode is a new hop, a new escape, a new job or a new bond. The show is a single continuing road story rather than a case-of-the-week format. Its tone blends propulsive action with tender, scarred emotion, and its visuals are bold and energetic. Fans of Cowboy Bebop, Prison Break and Lupin the Third will find resonance here in its outlaw swagger and wounded heart.
