## Synopsis

Courage the Cowardly Dog (1999-2002) is an American animated comedy series created by John R. Dilworth for Cartoon Network. Its protagonist is Courage, a pink dog who lives in constant terror, and the story centers on his elderly owners Muriel Bagge (Thea White) and Eustace Bagge (Lionel G. Wilson) on their isolated farmhouse in Nowhere, Kansas. Courage's cowardice drives each eleven-minute episode as he confronts bizarre monsters, eerie visitors and supernatural threats that wander onto the property, while Muriel and Eustace, gruff and exasperated, grudgingly defend him. The show runs four seasons and 102 episodes, with a standalone, episodic structure in which each story resolves quickly. The tone blends absurd slapstick with creepy, dreary atmosphere and surreal imagery, so the humor sits uneasily alongside genuine dread. Fans of The Ren & Stimpy Show, Ed, Edd n Eddy and Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! will find a similar mix of weird cartoon horror and comedy, rooted in an American rural landscape where the ordinary and the uncanny collide.
