## Synopsis

V (2009-2011) is an American-Canadian science fiction drama created by Scott Peters and Kenneth Johnson for ABC. It re-imagines the 1980s miniseries about humanity's first contact with an alien race calling themselves The Visitors. Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell) is a television news reporter whose instincts tell her that the charming, healing visitors are not what they seem, while her son Tyler (Logan Huffman) is drawn to their promises. Father Jack Landry (Joel Gretsch) and Ryan Nichols (Morris Chestnut) are other principal figures caught between faith, loyalty and resistance as the Visitors' public face spreads across the world. The engine of the show is the tension between a benevolent facade and a hidden agenda, playing out through interviews, backroom dealings and quiet acts of betrayal. Across two seasons of serialized storytelling, the series is built on mounting suspicion rather than spectacle. It is a paranoid, suspenseful drama with a glossy ABC network production sheen, set in contemporary American cities. Fans of Battlestar Galactica, Colony and the original V will find resonance in its alien invasion mythology and moral unease. The series was canceled before its story was complete.
