## Synopsis

Murder Most Puzzling (2025) is a British limited run mystery series created for television, based on the books by Parnell Hall. Phyllis Logan stars as Cora Felton, a woman who has recently moved with her niece to the sleepy English town of Bakerbury and is asked to help local police with a strange killing where a crossword puzzle has been left on the body. Charlotte Hope plays Sherry Carter, and Alistair Brammer plays Anton Grant, both part of the wider cast of townspeople whose secrets surface as the investigation widens. Cora's engine is quiet curiosity sharpened into method: she reads the puzzle clues, questions neighbours over tea, and tests each apparent answer against the town's routines. The series runs three ninety-minute episodes, each built around a new crime and a fresh set of red herrings. Set in contemporary rural England, it has a cozy, witty atmosphere with an undercurrent of unease, the kind of gentle whodunit that rewards close attention. Fans of Murder, She Wrote, Agatha Raisin and Midsomer Murders will find resonance in its amateur sleuth, village setting and puzzle-driven plotting.
