## Synopsis

Conversations with a Killer: The Son of Sam Tapes (2025) is a American true crime docuseries created for Netflix. Across three episodes of roughly fifty-eight minutes each, it revisits the hunt for David Berkowitz, the gunman who terrorized New York City in the late 1970s, and his own voice through previously unheard recordings and archival footage. Present-day interviews with former New York police detectives, television and newspaper reporters, authors and the researchers who spent years on the case anchor the account, and their memories of a city gripped by fear and sensational press coverage give the story its momentum. Rather than dramatizing events, the series builds its shape from the contrast between the killer's own words and the testimony of those who chased him, moving through leads, dead ends and the media frenzy that followed the shootings. The tone is sober, unsettling and investigative, with an undercurrent of dread that lingers after each episode. Viewers drawn to limited series like Mindhunter and The Ted Bundy Tapes will find the same blend of archival recordings and retrospective interviews, a grounded examination of a serial killer's psychology and the public fear he generated. It is a compact, self-contained three-part limited series suited to focused, attentive viewing.
