## Synopsis

Clerks (2000-2002) is a US adult animated comedy series created by Kevin Smith, David Mandel and Scott Mosier, produced for ABC and Comedy Central. Drawn from the View Askew universe of Kevin Smith's 1994 film, it follows convenience store clerk Dante Hicks (voiced by Brian O'Halloran) and his cynical best friend Randal Graves (voiced by Jeff Anderson) as they grind through menial shifts at the Quick Stop and the video store. Jay and Silent Bob are absent from the main story, leaving the two clerks to carry the comedy themselves. Each short episode is built from profane, deadpan exchanges with customers, bosses and their own mounting frustrations, with the engine being the simple wish to get through a day without losing their dignity. The series runs one season of six episodes and was canceled after its initial broadcast. Its animation is crude and irreverent, with a sardonic, self-deprecating tone that fans of Kevin Smith's films, along with viewers of Big Mouth and F is for Family, will recognize. Its appeal lies in sharp dialogue, cynical humor about service jobs, and a lo-fi energy rooted in Generation X slacker culture. Viewers who enjoy irreverent, adult-oriented animated sitcoms will find it a fitting companion.
