## Synopsis

Pistvakt (1998-2000) is a Swedish comedy series created for SVT1 and produced by SVT Drama, based on a play by Pistolteatern. Across two seasons of twelve half-hour episodes, the show follows the three Marklund brothers, Sven-E (Lennart Jähkel), Jan-E (Jacob Nordenson) and Olle (Tomas Norström), whose schemes and everyday bungling keep stalling in their small domestic world. Their mother Gudrun (Barbro Oborg) and the eccentric Bengt-Hans (Pierre Lindstedt) orbit the brothers, pushing each new misadventure further into farce. Each episode is a self-contained comic situation built from ordinary frustrations, ambitions that collapse and clumsy attempts at respectability, rather than one continuing storyline. The tone is deadpan and affectionate, with a stagey sense of exaggerated character and rhythm carried over from its theatrical origin. Fans of Fawlty Towers, Kenny Starfighter and Kommissarie Winter will find the same mix of absurd situations and warm, eccentric ensemble comedy in this compact Swedish production.
