## Synopsis

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (1995-1996) is a Japanese animated mecha series produced by Sunrise and aired on TV Asahi. Five young pilots, including the stoic Heero Yuy (Hikaru Midorikawa), the flamboyant Duo Maxwell (Toshihiko Seki), and the diplomatic Relena Darlian (Akiko Yajima), pilot giant robotic weapons called Gundams. They are sent from the space colonies to Earth to strike against an oppressive Earth Government. Each episode of this 49-episode single season pairs tense robot combat with political maneuvering, shifting alliances, and hidden schemes. Set in the Alternate Calendar era of space colonies, the series balances spectacular suit battles with quieter scenes of identity and loyalty. Its tone is earnest and melancholic, with a strong pacifist strain running through every battle. Fans of the original Mobile Suit Gundam, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Legend of the Galactic Heroes will find resonance in its blend of space opera politics and young pilots carrying the weight of war.
