## Synopsis

To Kill a Monkey (2025-present) is a Nigerian crime drama series created by Kemi Adetiba for Netflix. Its protagonist, Efemini, is a down-on-his-luck everyman whose ordinary life is upended by a chance reunion with an old friend. Played by Chidi Mokeme, Efemini is forced by circumstance to set aside his principles and step into a world of cybercrime, where every new scheme demands a bigger moral compromise to keep the consequences at bay. The engine of the story is his widening appetite for money and status pitted against the mounting cost of each choice, and the episodes are built around the tightening pressure of getting caught as his deals grow more dangerous. Bucci Franklin, Bimbo Akintola and Ireti Doyle fill out the principal cast. The series runs as a single eight-episode season, a serialized, tightly plotted arc in which order matters and each installment deepens the stakes. Its tone is tense and morally grey, with a contemporary Lagos-style atmosphere of ambition, temptation and paranoia. Fans of Breaking Bad, Ozark and Queen Sono will find resonance in its portrait of a flawed protagonist drawn deeper into a crime network he cannot easily leave.
