## Synopsis

Hero Corp (2008-2017) is a French comedic science fiction series created by Simon Astier and Sébastien Lalanne for France 4, first airing on the cable channel Comédie! before moving to France 4. Simon Astier, also known from the Kaamelott series, stars as the superhero-agency member Matthew Hoodwink, alongside Hubert Saint-Macary and François Podetti, whose characters squabble over status and fumble their powers. The engine of the show is a team of ill-equipped heroes trying to stay relevant while dealing with bureaucratic bosses, petty rivalries and ridiculous villains. Each short episode is a self-contained misadventure rather than a single arc, and the show runs five seasons totaling ninety-three episodes. It is set in a modern French city with the mundane texture of a local office rather than a glamorous metropolis. The tone is deadpan and absurd, with an undercurrent of affectionate ridicule for superhero conventions. Fans of The Tick, The Guild and Kaamelott will find resonance in its mix of self-aware parody, clumsy characters and low-key workplace humor.
