## Synopsis

The Super Hero Squad Show (2009-2011) is an American animated superhero comedy created by Stan Lee for Cartoon Network and Teletoon. Produced by Marvel Animation and Film Roman, it adapts the Marvel Super Hero Squad action figure line into a cartoonish, super-deformed world where the Avengers, the X-Men and a wide roster of Marvel characters are drawn with oversized heads and tiny bodies. Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk and Dr. Doom appear among the principal heroes and villains, with voice work from Tom Kenny as Iron Man, Captain America and MODOK, Travis Willingham as the Hulk, and Charlie Adler as Dr. Doom. Stan Lee himself voices the Mayor. The engine of the show is comic misadventure: heroes who normally take themselves seriously find themselves in silly everyday predicaments that undercut their dignity. Episodes are self-contained gags and short stories rather than one continuing saga, spread across two seasons and fifty-two episodes of roughly twenty-two minutes each. The tone is breezy, self-aware and gently absurd, with a parody sensibility that winks at comic book conventions. Fans of Mini Marvels, The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Teen Titans Go! will find similar kinship in its playful deflation of superhero solemnity.
