## Synopsis

Airwolf (1984-1987) is an American action adventure series created by Donald P. Bellisario for CBS, with later showings on USA Network. Jan-Michael Vincent plays Stringfellow Hawke, a renegade pilot who agrees to work for an intelligence agency in exchange for its help in locating his missing brother. Ernest Borgnine co-stars as Dominic Santini, a veteran figure in the cast's ensemble, and Alex Cord plays the agency-side figure Michael Coldsmith-Briggs III. Across four seasons and roughly eighty episodes, the show follows Hawke flying an advanced battle helicopter on covert missions that the agency assigns, with each episode built as a self-contained case of rescue, infiltration or retrieval. The engine is the pull between his personal search and the hazardous jobs he keeps accepting. Set in the 1980s with Cold War era espionage and Vietnam War echoes, it plays as a brisk, colorful blend of hardware spectacle and light-hearted heroics. Its tone is breezy and nostalgic rather than grim. Fans of Knight Rider, Magnum, P.I. and MacGyver will find resonance in its gadget-driven, vehicle-centered adventure.
