## Synopsis

Marcial Maciel: The Wolf of God (2025) is an Argentine true crime docuseries presented as a four-episode miniseries. Journalist Carmen Aristegui appears as herself, guiding viewers through an investigation into Father Marcial Maciel, the founder and infamous leader of the Legionaries of Christ. The engine of the series is the slow accumulation of evidence over decades of abuse and deception, as former members, archival records, and testimony expose how a revered religious figure escaped accountability while his order grew across the Catholic world. Each episode is built from interviews, documents, and reconstructed chronology, moving steadily from the early rise of the movement to the moral reckoning that followed. The tone is sober, investigative, and emotionally heavy, with an atmosphere of grief and anger rather than sensationalism. Its focus on institutional silence and the protection of power gives it a weight that resonates with viewers of investigative documentaries and church scandal exposés. Fans of Leaving Neverland, Spotlight, and Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God will find the same resolve to name abuse and examine how it was concealed. Set largely in Mexico, Rome, and the wider Catholic world across the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, it is a sobering, carefully paced account for adult audiences.
