## Synopsis

De Zevensprong (1982) is a Dutch family adventure series created by Tonke Dragt for NCRV, a single-season run of thirteen 24-minute episodes built for children and families. Elementary school teacher Frans van der Steg (Peter Bos) is pulled into a secret conspiracy to rescue Geert-Jan Grisenstijn from the clutches of his scheming uncle, the evil count, played by Ferd Hugas as Graaf Gradus Grisenstijn. Alongside Frans, a close circle of helpers takes shape around the boy, including Tante Willemijn (Kitty Janssen), Maarten (Martijn Nieuwerf) and Roberto (Bart Gabriëlse). The engine of the show is simple and concrete: a plan to outwit a sinister aristocrat who holds the boy's future in his hands, with each episode advancing the scheme through disguises, hiding places and narrow escapes. The mood is earnest and warm, with an old-fashioned adventure spirit and a sense of loyal friendship tested against a menacing adult world. Set in a contemporary Dutch milieu, the series carries the wholesome, fast-paced tone of Dutch children's television from the era. Fans of Ronia, the Robber's Daughter, The Princess Bride and Pietje Bell will find resonance in its blend of innocence, secret plotting and triumphant rescue.
