## Synopsis

Sunset Beach (1997-1999) is an American daytime soap opera created by Josh Griffith, Robert Guza Jr. and Charles Pratt, Jr. for NBC, co-produced with Spelling Television. Set in a fictional Orange County beach community on the California coast, the show follows the loves and lives of its residents. Cole Deschanel (Eddie Cibrian) anchors the romantic web, while Bette Katzenkazrahi (Kathleen Noone), Father Antonio Torres (Nick Kiriazis) and Olivia Richards (Lesley-Anne Down) are among the principal characters whose intertwined histories drive the drama. The engine is relentless romantic entanglement: lovers who cannot quite connect, rivals who cross paths again, and family ties that tangle every new pairing. Its episodes are built around sudden reunions, secret attractions and public confrontations, unfolding across three seasons of continuing storylines rather than standalone cases. Shot largely on the sunny shores of Seal Beach, the series carries a warm, sudsy melodrama tone, with glossy romance and soapy suspense. Fans of Days of Our Lives, Passions and Melrose Place will find resonance in its ensemble heartache and sun-drenched seaside glamour, a long-form romance that rewards steady, loyal viewing.
