## Synopsis

The Sacketts (1979) is a American television western miniseries created by Louis L'Amour for NBC. Adapted from two of L'Amour's novels, Sackett and The Daybreakers, it follows three Sackett brothers, played by Sam Elliott as Tell Sacket, Tom Selleck as Orrin Sackett and Jeff Osterhage as Tyrel Sackett, as they arrive in New Mexico after the Civil War. Their engine is simple and driven: they want land and fortune, and they must avenge a family killing while driving cattle and taking on lawless men who stand against order. Glenn Ford plays Tom Sunday, and Ben Johnson appears as Cap Rountree, adding seasoned frontier weight to the cast. Told across two long broadcast nights, this is a traditional sagebrush saga with sweeping open range vistas, saddle-worn loyalty and hard-earned justice. The mood is earnest, rugged and nostalgic, with moments of violence and grief balanced by camaraderie. Fans of Lonesome Dove, The Virginian and Centennial will find the same classic western sensibility, the wide-scale frontier storytelling and the enduring bond of family at its heart.
