## Synopsis

Treasure Island (1978-1979) is a Japanese animated adventure series created for Nippon TV and produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha, adapting the classic Robert Louis Stevenson pirate tale. Young Jim Hawkins, who helps his mother run the Admiral Benbow Inn in a seaside English town, comes into possession of a treasure map and sets sail with Dr. Livesey and the crew of the ship. The engine of the story is the shipboard struggle between the honest voyagers and the pirates who slipped aboard disguised as crewmen, led by the charming John Silver. Across a single season of twenty-six episodes, each stretch of the voyage brings new dangers at sea, shifting alliances, and betrayals that force Jim to understand how differently these men live. The mood is adventurous and earnest, with the wonder of open water balanced against the menace of mutiny. Fans of Treasure Island, Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water and Long John Silver will find resonance here.
