## Synopsis

Dawson's Creek (1998-2003) is an American teen drama created by Kevin Williamson for The WB, a six-season serialized coming of age soap. Aspiring filmmaker Dawson Leery (James Van Der Beek) dreams of directing movies in the small town of Capeside, Massachusetts, where he lives next door to his best friend Joey Potter (Katie Holmes). Their tight circle widens to include the outspoken Jen Lindley (Michelle Williams) and the sharp, restless Pacey Witter (Joshua Jackson), and the group's romantic entanglements shift as they move from high school toward college. Each season is built from intimate conversations, romantic confessions, and family strain, with a standing set of crushes and rivalries driving the story forward. The tone is earnest, sentimental, and wistful, with a soapy heartbeat and a strong sense of nostalgia for adolescence. Fans of Beverly Hills, 90210, Gilmore Girls and My So-Called Life will find resonance in its sincere portrait of youthful yearning and small town belonging. Produced for a network with a young audience, it reads as a classic late nineties teen melodrama.
