## Synopsis

Captain Tsubasa: Road to 2002 (2001-2002) is a Japanese animated sports series created for TV Tokyo, adapted from the classic football manga. Its framing device finds Tsubasa, now a superstar striker in Brazil and eager to make his move to Europe, recalling the matches and friendships that built him. Tsubasa himself anchors the story, with goalkeeper Wakabayashi, the gifted striker Hyuga, the tender-hearted Misaki and coach Roberto shaping his path from a boy with a ball to a player of world class. The engine is simple and concrete: each flashback is built around a decisive game, a training lesson or a rival's challenge, and the young hero's passion to score and win drives every episode. The series runs as a single season of fifty-two half-hour episodes, a self-contained stretch of nostalgic recollection rather than a case-of-the-week format. Its tone is earnest, warm and sincerely competitive, with an emphasis on friendship and the joy of playing. Its nostalgic, hopeful atmosphere suits viewers who enjoy shonen sports anime in the vein of Inazuma Eleven, Haikyu!! and Slam Dunk, where youthful rivalry and teamwork carry the drama.
