## Synopsis

Freaks and Geeks (1999-2000) is an American single-season coming-of-age sitcom created by Paul Feig for NBC. Linda Cardellini plays Lindsay Weir, a high school mathlete who rebels and starts hanging out with a crowd of burnouts, while John Francis Daley plays her younger brother Sam Weir, who navigates the nerdy social fringe alongside his geek friends. James Franco, Seth Rogen, and Busy Philipps round out the principal cast as members of the outcast circle, with Joe Flaherty and Becky Ann Baker as the Weir parents. The engine of the series is the push and pull of adolescence: the desire to fit in, the cost of changing identities, and the awkward moments that make teenagers feel exposed. Each episode is a self-contained story built from concrete school hallways, parties, detention, and family dinners, and the eighteen episodes form one continuing season-long arc. The look and feel recall the early 1980s without strictly replicating them, and the tone is sincere and funny, balancing cringe-worthy humiliation with real emotional sting. Fans of My So-Called Life, The Wonder Years, and Freaks and Geeks-style ensemble teen dramas will find resonance in its warm, honest portrait of outsiders trying to belong.
