## Synopsis

Crossing Jordan (2001-2007) is an American network crime drama created by Tim Kring for NBC. Jill Hennessy stars as Jordan Cavanaugh, a brilliant and abrasive forensic pathologist working in the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Alongside her, Miguel Ferrer plays Garrett Macy, the office's commanding chief, while Jerry O'Connell portrays Woody Hoyt and Steve Valentine plays Nigel Townsend, colleagues whose rivalries and friendships shape the workplace. Jordan's engine is simple and relentless: each episode hands her a body that cannot speak, and she must read bruises, toxicology and wounds to name a killer before the case goes cold. The series unfolds as a six-season run of mostly self-contained murder cases, with a continuing thread of professional tension and personal history running beneath them. Its atmosphere blends clinical precision with emotional weariness, a procedural built on the quiet dignity of the dead. Fans of Quincy, M.E., Bones and Silent Witness will find familiar pleasures in its forensic detail and its brisk, character-driven investigations set in a grey New England city.
