## Synopsis

Angel (1999-2004) is an American supernatural drama series created by Joss Whedon and David Greenwalt for The WB, a spin-off from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. David Boreanaz plays Angel, a vampire cursed with a soul who moves to Los Angeles and takes on cases involving demons, ghosts and other supernatural trouble. He is joined by Charisma Carpenter as Cordelia Chase, Alexis Denisof as the bookish Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, and J. August Richards as the weapons-savvy Charles Gunn, with Andy Hallett as the singing demon Lorne. Their engine is a constant tension between Angel's wish to atone and the pull of violence and temptation, while each week brings a new client in trouble and a larger conflict with a shadowy law firm that trades in evil. The series runs five seasons of twenty-two episodes each, mixing serialized arcs with standalone cases.
