## Synopsis

Red Eagle (2009-2016) is a Spanish period adventure series created by Pilar Nadal, Ernesto Pozuelo, Juan Carlos Cueto, Daniel Écija and Carmen O. Carbonero for La 1. Its protagonist, Gonzalo de Montalvo (David Janer), hides behind the nickname Red Eagle, an unsung champion of justice who helps the weak in seventeenth century Spain. Driven by the murder of his young wife, Margarita Hernando (Inma Cuesta), he pursues the conspirators behind her death, moving through noble houses, royal intrigue and the rough streets of the common folk. Alongside him stands Javier Gutiérrez as Saturno Sátur García, adding humor and loyalty to the story. Episodes are built around rescues, duels and secret plots that gradually reveal a larger web of corruption. The series runs for nine seasons across 116 episodes, forming one continuing story rather than a case-of-the-week format. Its tone is earnest and sentimental, celebrating courage, nobility, friendship and love in a warm, old-fashioned adventure register. Fans of The Scarlet Pimpernel, Alatriste and Zorro will find resonance in its masked justice, Spanish period flavour and steady chivalric heart.
