## Synopsis

Tomorrow's Joe (1970-1981) is a Japanese animated sports drama series created for Fuji TV and Nippon TV, a classic shonen anime produced by Mushi Production and Tokyo Movie Shinsha. The story follows Joe Yabuki, a young drifter from the Tokyo slums, voiced by Teruhiko Aoi, who quickly learns to fight with his fists. He catches the eye of Danpei Tange (voiced by Jūkei Fujioka), a failed boxer and heavy drinker who sees a fighter in him and pushes him to train. Joe's engine is simple and fierce: he wants to prove himself in the ring, and every episode is built around a bout that tests his will against brutal opponents and his own volatile temper. The series spans two seasons and 126 episodes, following the grind of training, arrests, rivalries and matches. Its tone is gritty, melancholic and fatalistic, with a strong sense of working-class hardship and the bleak comfort of earned pride. Set in 1970s Tokyo, it captures the era's rough streets and dim bars. Fans of Hajime no Ippo and Rocky will find resonance in its underdog spirit and rough-edged mentorship.
